My Goddaughter Sharon Lee turned 10 last month. To celebrate her turning a decade, her mom (my cousin Shani), threw her a slamming Super Mario Bros. Bash! So lucky and proud that I was asked to help with the decor. Throwing a party? It’s all in the details… read on!
Starting with the Invite, which you can view here. Everyone was asked to dress up in all their Super Mario Bros. glory! SO fun!
Birthday girl as Princess Peach
You can’t go wrong with colorful Balloons picked up at the local Dollar Store.
“Super Mario” red table covers were purchased as a roll, and made covering the tables so easy. We stuck store bought vinyl Super Mario Bros. stickers on the mirrors that lined one wall of the party area. Both were purchased at the local party store.
A talented friend painted this mural for another wall, personalized with the birthday girl’s name and birthday
The mural served as a “Photo Booth,” complete with hats for everyone to wear – our little Mario Fam. Too funny how the mural didn’t really make it in our photo and M looks a wee bit scared of our photographer, but it’s all good 🙂
The gift table “banner” was made out of store bought balloons and napkins. I just printed letters from my comp in Word and cut them out and pasted them onto the napkins (I SO could have used a Silhouette machine (wink wink)).
Every other table had a Yoshi and Egg Centerpiece. Shani painted Styrofoam eggs (yay for Easter) white, then different colored spots to match the Yoshi keychains that were purchased on Ebay.
Fun and Games:
Pin the flag on the flagpole. Again we had a friend draw this picture, using the flag we made as a guide. The vinyl coins were used for decoration as were the pop art on the sides.
Fun for every age included the BIG bounce house outside, and fun tunnels and a ball “pit” inside.
M loving the ball pit!
We had also set up a “Decorate Your Own Star Wand” cookie table. The cookie sheets (found at Michaels) were perfect and so easy to use! Mahal Kita = I love you, in Filipino. Yes, we play and even get romantic with our food (wink wink).
Musical Chairs was also a favorite. We used instrumental music from the different Mario games.
Pinata time, all the kids loved that! Also found at the local party store. This baby was filled with 20 lbs of sugar!
These awesome bags went perfect with the theme, made a great decoration element, and…
…were filled to the brim with goodies! Everything again complimenting the Super Mario Bros theme, even gold coins.
THE CAKE from Carmelo’s Bakery in Whittier, CA – was fabulous! Over the top, just like the whole party, perfect 🙂 Bottom layer was red velvet, middle layer was marble with strawberries, and the top was a chocolate cake.
More details of the cake, plus our green and red “mushroom” cupcakes we made.
They also rented a cotton candy machine and snow cone maker
