Hey now friends! How was your weekend? Ending the weekend with our bellies and hearts full. As I mentioned on Thursday, one of my besties Alisa is visiting from Wisconsin. We took this as the perfect opportunity to keep our marriage hot and sneak a date night in, since we haven’t had one since that one time at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.
Nate and I challenged ourselves and set a marriage goal at the beginning of the year to get in 50 dates in 2016. It’s a fun way to keep us accountable in making sure we get in a date night, whether it’s Chinese take out in our jammers or a night out on the town. The only real “rule” is it has to not be a family date, meaning no kids! On social media you can search the hashtag #thefoleyfamdates, but I thought it’d be fun to check in monthly on the blog too with a little more detail. Today I’m sharing our dates from this weekend.
Date night/date weekend for dates 11 and 12 for #50datesin2016 started Saturday night after Nate got off work. We dropped the kiddos off at Gpa and Gma’s. They had fun sampling all the food at an all you can eat seafood buffet and of course playtime which included a trip to the arcade.
We had supper at Samurai 21 in Mesquite, Nevada with Nate’s cousin Travis. If you haven’t tried the Hibachi table experience, we highly recommend it. Our chef was fabulous and really personable all while cooking up our food in front of us. If you follow us on Snapchat–>kristinefoley, you’ll have seen our delicious food and drinks and our attempts at catching the flying shrimp in our mouths.
Afterwards we hit up Virgin River and Eureka casinos to gamble a bit and of course people watch. Nate hit 6 out of 6 on a Keno machine at Virgin River, so we got to play all night “free” with our winnings and went home breaking even. That’s a good night folks! Our good friend Eddie joined us, and the night was filled with lots of laughing, more delicious drinks and of course inside jokes. My drink of choice was and is a Nuts and Berries. Don’t knock it till you try it! We also got a couple Kamikaze shots, which was one of the signature drinks at our wedding. Eddie got us a complimentary room at the Virgin River, and we ended up staying out till 4am! For this mama it’s a wee bit unbelievable, considering we are usually in bed asleep by 10pm. Such a fun night and so good to get out and enjoy some adult time.
Our second date for the weekend was breakfast the next morning before picking up the kiddos. Virgin River buffet never disappoints, and we got our fill of yummy pastries, custom omelettes and I chowed down on the salad bar. We literally laughed so hard during breakfast with Alisa and Eddie that I almost peed my pants, and my checks hurt the rest of the day. Good times!
I’ll be sharing our previous dates and future ones and how we keep our marriage hot in the coming weeks. We are always on the look out for fun date night ideas, so lay them on us! How do you keep your marriage a priority?
