I know it’s been a hot minute since I found myself in this space, but I’m rolling with it. How are you friends?! If you follow me on social media you’ll know that a few weeks ago we visited the Viva Wyndham Azteca Resort in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. This is our second visit there. You can read about our first visit here.
One of the awesome perks of staying at the Viva Wyndham Azteca is they have a photographer on site all day long. He literally combs the grounds and takes pictures of all the fun! What a fun job right?! Well, every time he offered to take our pictures while we were out and about, I refused. I know… such a party pooper. Nate and the girl’s obliged when they were playing in the pool one day.
How it works:
He takes photos and inputs your wristband number into his camera. You then go to the photography suite, which is located right inside the resort. I suggest going at the end of your stay, so that you can view all your pictures at once. There’s no pressure to buy, but man oh man I’m going to warn you, you might want them all! What’s cool is you can set up an appointment time with them at any time during your stay. You can get as fancy or as laid back as you want.
He finally wore me down the second to the last day of our trip (ha!). I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take pictures for FREE right? Confession: we’ve never had family pictures taken. I take that back we did one year as a Christmas present for my mom at Sears portrait. It was a pretty craptastic experience to say the least. They didn’t have our reservation when we showed up. The girl’s were 2 and 3 at the time I believe, and they weren’t about the photo studio life! Needless to say we’ve just never attempted it again.
We set up the appointment to meet at the beach in the afternoon. Originally it was set for the four of us (Zeno had his own little staycation at home with Gpa and Gma and Lola). The girl’s ended up wanting to go to the Kid’s Club, so Nate and I took it upon ourselves to have a little fun photo shoot – again totally something we wouldn’t normally do. Yes, we felt silly at first (evidence below), but by the end we had fun with it!
Some funny quotes that came out of our photographers mouth from our shoot:
Make room for the newlyweds. (SO totally awkward to take posed pictures in front of everyone and their mama)
Oh, you guys are pros.
Wait? You guys have been together 18 years?!?! How old are you guys???
Come on… who stays together 18 years and is still smiling.
Just nibble on his ear a bit.
Yes! That’s the money shot!
I wish I had taken a picture of him. He was a young kid, who obviously loved his job!! He really made it fun for us!
We got so comfortable (haha!) that when we saw him later that afternoon out in the ocean next to us, we had him take some fun shots of the two of us and our bestfriends who came on the trip with us.
If you stay at Viva Wyndham Azteca I urge you to take full advantage of their photographer on site. Again there’s no fee or pressure to buy, but you might just get some gems that will be worth every penny. Our trip was one we will never forget, and now we have fun pictures to look back on.
